Planning Application for 120 houses defeated

SODC's planning committee considered the proposed plans for 120 homes to be built on Site 7 (land to the East of Chalgrove) in April, and for the first time in a long time, we received some good news!

The developer was advised that they had not been selected as the preferred site for the Neighbourhood Development Plan, so decided to put in a planning application anyway. Thanks to sterling work by our District Councillor, David Turner, SODC delayed the review until a site visit had been carried out. Once the site visit had been completed, the Planning Committee convened, and thanks to the members of the Parish Council and the NDP, the Committee were minded to reject the application, despite the advice of the Head of Planning for SODC.

This gives us heart that having an NDP, even if it is not quite completed yet, is a good defence against speculative development.

The preferred site, to the West of Chalgrove, is being considered on June 14th by SODC; this site has the support of the NDP and Parish Council.
